Happy New Year to everyone! It was great to see all of the children and parents back at the school this week. We hope you had an enjoyable, relaxing, safe and happy break with your families and friends.
Support our Secretaries
School secretaries are on a one day national strike today for improved pay and work conditions (i.e. sick pay and pensions) from the Department of Education and Skills. If you would like to support Lesley you can do so by beeping your horn when you pass her at the gate or standing with Lesley and the other secretaries at the school gate.
Building Works
The builders will be working in the school hall and staffroom for the month of January. They hope to be finished all works by the end of February at which stage all scaffolding will be removed. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation while these works are going on.
Attendance Awards
Today we gave out our Attendance Medals for term 1. All children who were in school every day during the first term received a medal. We will be doing this for terms 2 and 3 also and encourage all children (who are not sick) to be in school every day!
Parents’ Meeting Re: Parking
On Thursday 9th at 8.30 am we held a meeting about parking in the school library. Approximately 18 parents attended. We had a great conversation about how we can approach a campaign for a piece of land and have been in touch with local TDs already. A whatsapp group was set up for parents who are willing to help out. If you would like to be a part of the whatsapp group please email your name and number to sinead@lucaneastet.ie.
A special thank you to all of the parents who attended and to those who are working on this for the school.
Get Ireland Walking
In conjunction with South Dublin County Council and Get Ireland Walking/Operation Transformation we will be starting a ‘Walk on Wednesday’ next Wednesday 15th from 9-10 am for adults. Everyone will meet in the courtyard (where the children line up in the mornings) and go from there. All are welcome – the more the merrier!
Sugarcraft Classes
Due to their success and popularity, the Sugar Craft Classes will recommence next Friday 17th from 9.30 – 11.30 am. There are limited places available. If you are interested in attending please email sinead@lucaneastet.ie
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and we’ll see you next week.
Míle buíochas,
Gráinne
