Welcome to the friday news. An important date for your diary is the winter concert which takes place On Friday 16th Of December. This is always a great day in the life of the school and all parents are welcome. To tie in with our new building the theme this year is “New Beginnings”.
You will also have received a postcard in your child’s bag which we want you to post off to your local TD. It is a plea not to cut any more services in primary education. Larger class sizes will effect every child in the school and it is very unfair that our children should have to pay for the mistakes of others. It is important that our voices are heard as families in the Lucan area. The local government TD’s are Frances Fitzgerald who is the minister for children, Fine Gael TD Derek Keating and Labour TD’s Joanna Tuffy and Robert Dowds. All you need to do is place the name of one of the TD’s on the postcard, write the name of the school in the space provided, add a stamp and post it from the nearest letterbox.
School calendars are still on sale and will help raise vital funds for the school. The PTA are also planning the winter fair which promises to be bigger and better than ever. This year’s event takes place on Sunday December 4th. This week’s phrase of the week in Irish is Más é do thoil é which is pronounced “maas ay do hull ay” which means “please”. We had an impromptu fire drill this week and the children were very quick and sensible leaving the school building.
A big thank you to all who attended the recent parent teacher meetings. All the teachers are very heartened by your support and we look forward to working with your child in the coming year.
The children will be taking part in a cross country running event in Adamstown in the coming weeks.
Bíodh deireadh seachtaine deas agaibh ( have a nice weekend),
Eddie Fox
