It is with great pride that we announce that Gráinne has secured a principalship in Scoil Chlíodhna Community National School in Carrigtwohill, Cork. Gráinne graced the corridors here at Lucan East for Seven years and worked with great energy and commitment during her time at the school. She leaves behind a legacy of good practice particularly in her specialist area of literacy which will shine bright long after she leaves. As Deputy Principal Gráinne acted with a professionalism which exemplifies all that is good about the teaching profession. She will be sorely missed by all in our community and we know that all the experience she has gained here at Lucan East will stand her in good stead in the years ahead as she embarks on the same process in Carrigtwohill. If this new school does not go ahead in Cork Gráinne will return to us at Lucan East. She hopes to come back before the mid term break to say goodbye to everybody. Below is a message from Gráinne:
Dear Friends,
I was offered a job as principal of Scoil Chlíodhna Community National School in Co. Cork during the summer.
Although there is still a little uncertainty about whether the school in Cork will actually open in September Eddie asked me to put a message together in case I don’t return to Lucan East.
I have shed many tears over the summer at the thought of leaving the exceptional staff, parents and students of Lucan East. I consider myself very lucky to have gotten the chance to work with and get to know you all – staff, parents and students alike. I would also like to thank Eddie and the board of management who have been really supportive always and especially as I take on this new role.
I cannot thank you enough for the many ways you have helped me over the years – in the school garden, with the mural and the library and even the many friendly chats in the corridor. I have memories from my interactions with all of you that I will cherish forever.
Students of Lucan East, you have all made footprints in my heart that have changed me forever. Wherever your future leads you, just know that I am out there cheering for you.
If all goes well, the school will open in Cork on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a new chapter in my teaching career. If not, I will see you all very soon.
I wish you all much happiness and success in your futures and I hope that our paths cross again soon. If you’re ever in Cork pop into the school for a visit. I would absolutely love to see you.
Míle buíochas agus go n-éirí an bothar libh,
Gráinne
