In September 2009 we had the very talented environmentalist, Paddy Madden, out to the school. Paddy spent a lot of time walking around our school, drawing sketches and thinking about how best we could create an educational, exciting and beautiful school garden and this is the amazing and imaginative plan he came up with!
We were so excited when he showed the plan to us but there is a lot of work for the children, teachers and parents to do to get it up and running.
Since then the Parent Teacher Association have done some fund-raising for the school garden which we are very grateful for. We have ordered the trees which the children will be planting along with the help of any parents that are available. After Christmas we hope to make class plots in the Cultivation Zone so that classes can begin growing their own fruit and vegetables in Spring time.
This is such an exciting and fun project. Keep an eye on the blog for further updates and ideas for growing at home. If any parents would like to volunteer to help with the school garden you can speak to Margaret (learning support teacher) or Eddie or you can write your name on the list for the school garden which you will find on the PTA notice board.
Welcome to the Wild Side! Now let’s get our Green Fingers gardening.
