Children’s Silat Self Defence classes take part every Tuesday evening in Lucan East Educate Together School. Since the club moved there it has grown continuously, and now forms a great partnership with the school and the local community. Silat is an art form, from South East Asia which uses exercise movements from Martial Arts and Yoga to develop strength, co-ordination and flexibility in children, along with giving them self defence knowledge and ability. Learning Silat is also about developing Motivation, Leadership, Respect and Responsibility. Helping children to train together in a multi culture environment, help’s develop vital skills for later in life. Each class is design to be energetic, fun and informative and children progress through the syllabus at their own rate. As children learn better and more intense skills, they feel rewarded. By learning Silat, it helps kids focus, which is especially good for those school homework nights.
