The aims of the PTA
- To promote and strengthen the spirit of the school
- To ensure the continued welfare and development of the school
- To promote understanding between parents, teachers, management and children
- To encourage and facilitate parental activity in the life of the school
- To assist the school where help is required
- To raise funds in support of the schools aims
Membership
The membership of the Parent Teacher Association shall be deemed to be all parents and guardians of pupils enrolled in the school without the necessity of any formal application to the Parent Teacher Association. Any member of the Parent Teacher Association shall be entitled to attend the annual general meeting (AGM) and vote on all motions.
The Committee
The Committee meets once a month. It is made up of the chairperson, the vice-chairperson, secretary, treasurer, teacher’s rep, and committee members from the parent body.
Chairperson – Tara Johnson
The role of the Chairperson as the name suggests chairs all meetings. Along with the secretary he/she lays out the agenda prior to each meeting. The chair also liases with the school principal and the Board of Management when necessary.
Vice-Chairperson – N/A
The role of the Vice-Chairperson is to support the Chairperson in their role and stand in should the Chairperson be unavailable for meetings or events.
Secretary – Colette Darcy
The Secretary keeps track of all correspondence to and from the PTA. Also in cooperation with the chairperson ensures that the agenda is set out before each meeting and is distributed to all committee members.
Treasurer – Seamus Fogarty
The Treasurer records all monies raised and spent by the PTA during the school year. The treasurer also works with the treasurer of the BOM who keeps final accounts of all school finances.
