What a fantastic first week back in the school it has been for me! I’ve had a great time catching up with all of the children and parents I know from when I worked here before and getting to know all of the new children and parents in the Lucan East community. I feel extremely lucky to be working with such a dedicated, professional, hard-working team and I am excited for what we can do together in the future!
There has been lots of activities going on in the school this week. From Clover in Junior Infants, to the school tours in 1st class, to the plays with Garbo Productions Theatre Company, to our celebrations for International Women’s Day. It’s been a fun filled week and a great week from start to finish and I’ve enjoyed every minute.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Margaret Callan for all of the work she did with our 3rd class pupils for their productions this week. The children got to experience all of the elements involved in the production of a show, including voice recording, puppetry and staging and they learned so much from it. They put on two fabulous performances which everyone thoroughly enjoyed and we look forward to working with Garbo Productions again soon.
A big thank you also to Sinéad (home-school teacher) and the PTA for the coffee morning they organised for International Women’s Day. It was a lovely morning and it was thoroughly enjoyed by the many ladies who came.
Next Week:
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Next week is Seachtain na Gaeilge and we have lots of great things in store for the children e.g. Irish dancing with Elaine, Tráth na gCeist, Scéalaí, Comórtas Seanfhocal, Íoga as Gaeilge and our annual Lá Glas agus Gael next Friday 16th March – remember to wear something green if you have it agus bígí ag caint as Gaeilge.
Book Collection for ‘Bring a Book Buy a Book’
If you have any books at home that are not being used anymore please send them into the school any day next week. We are collecting them for our ‘Bring a Book, Buy a Book’ day on 21st March. All of the books on sale that day will be 50 cent. It is one of our favourite events as it encourages reading whilst raising funds at the same time!
Thank you all for making my first week back in the school so enjoyable. I look forward to many more.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Is mise le meas,
Gráinne
