It was Seachtain na gaeilge week in our school last week. We did Irish dancing with Elaine and basketball with Niall in Irish. We also learned some seanfhocail-old Irish sayings, had a game of Tráth na gCeist in the classroom and finally we sang Cailin na Gaillmhe in the seo Gaeilge!
We learned all about the 1916 Easter Rising. We did a project about the Easter Rising & we wrote a report about the Easter Rising. Fun Fact: Joseph Plunket got married 8 hours before he got executed! We also made our own Proclamation for the next 100 years of what we want Ireland to be in the future!
In Art we did Bird pointillism and the birds we painted were the Thrush, Blackbird, Song Thrush and the Magpie. We also wanted to get our Irish spirit up so we coloured these cool Shamrocks. For English we did fact file on one bird and we did 1916 Easter Rising Report. With Orlagh we learned about common, proper and collective nouns!
For Science we did a subject called what will dissolve first. The materials were sand, salt, sugar and flour. The sugar and the salt dissolved first. The flour and sand didn’t dissolve at all because they were harder materials.
On Tuesday the whole school came out and saw the Irish flag getting raised. At the same time the proclamations were read out to the whole school. At the end of it, we sang the Irish anthem.
