Dear Parents,
You are invited to attend a talk about Child Internet Safety next Wednesday 20th January at 7pm in the school hall. The seminar will be given by a company called Zeeko who help parents and teachers empower children to protect themselves online. The children from 2nd – 6th class will also be given a presentation by Zeeko in school on the same day. Some of the topics that will be covered during the seminar include cyber bullying, safety settings, social media, online gaming, inappropriate content, digital stranger danger and data privacy.
While the internet presents fantastic opportunities for children’s learning, there is an opportunity for them to be put at risk by their exposure to materials and/or individuals which may be harmful. It is for this reason that we feel it is important for parents to understand that access to the internet is becoming increasingly diverse and therefore difficult to supervise.
The Zeeko seminar will provide some practical steps parents can take to help limit the risks, as well as clear advice parents can give their children to ensure their online safety. We hope to see you all at the talk next Wednesday.
