I was very proud of our fifth class boys who won the Dublin community games chess competition last Friday night. They beat other teams from all over the city and will now face Kildare in the next round. A big well done to our Olympic handballers who played so well last week in Leixlip. Next week our fourth class boys team will be in action.
This week our school inspector Thomas Walsh visited us in preparation for our Whole School Evaluation (WSE). He met with our Board of management, Parent Teacher Association and staff. The evaluation will take place on the week of February 18th. Next week we will be distributing a number of questionnaires to parents from different classes. I would be really grateful if you could fill them in and get them back to the school. They are part of the evaluation process. This evaluation will identify all the strengths of the school as well as areas for development.
Here are some of the parental involvement initiatives taking place in the school at the moment:
- Maths for fun in France class
- Literacy training for parents in Junior Infants
- English classes for parents
- Art and craft class for parents.
I hope to run a healthy cooking class with the PTA next term. Tá seachtain na Gaeilge ag teacht (Irish week is coming) agus beidhmíd ag tabhairt cúairt do Gaelscoil Eiscir Ríada agus GVETNS (and we will be visiting and celebrating with the Gaelscoil and GVETNS). Watch this space for further details.
I would like to thank you all for your continued support,
Míle buíochas,
Eddie
