Today, we had a very special day in Lucan East ETNS – it was Grandparents day. As part of the Bealtaine Festival with South Dublin County Council, we invited the grandparents into our school. Some of the grandparents spoke about their school days and how they like to spend time with their grandchildren. The grandparents had a tour of the school and visited the classes. The children sang songs, performed raps, read their poetry and showed off their artwork. Then the grandparents had tea, coffee, treats and chats in the hall.
As Eddie told our grandparents this morning, they are such important people in the lives of their grandchildren. We value our grandparents so much and were very lucky to have so many present today to celebrate this special day with. Grandparents day recognises the importance of our heritage, our community and relationships across generations.
We hope you all enjoyed the day and are looking forward to many other grandparents days to come!
