This particular tale tells the story of the unique surroundings filled with art and creativity that the students of Lucan East Educate Together National School are treated to when they come into school every day. Principal Eddie Fox and his staff are hosting their very first Arts Day on April 27th 2012 to celebrate this wealth of art with special guest of honour Mayor of South Dublin County Catriona Jones and with the line-up of prestigious artists involved, Lucan East E.T. really has some heavy weight names from the arts world to drop ! Funded by the per cent for art scheme Child Centred artists Maree Hensey and Mark Ryan worked with the children to make artworks based on the theme of the living heritage. (See images above) The sculpture titled ‘Confluence’ takes its form from a Celtic spiral. LEETNS reflects ‘New Ireland’ in that it embraces and celebrates diversity……… All of Us Here (see below) is a participative art project that took place in Lucan East Educate Together School in November 2011. Artists Anne Cleary and Denis Connolly invited the children to play with and explore colourful interactive video projections under the guidance of a choreographer, Deirdre Murphy. The projections used were initially designed by Cleary & Connolly for an exhibition at the children’s gallery of the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
