It has been another great week here at the school. I had the pleasure to visit 5th class today for their debate final where the motion was “Irish should be compulsary at school”. As an Irish language enthusiast it was a really interesting debate. All the children used great emotion debating techniques and all the parents in Egypt class should be very proud of the work the children produced today. This month many of the children in the school have been working on persuasive writing and this activity was an extension of this. Congratulations to Aoife and David and all of Egypt class.
Please remember that there will be a new sign in/sign out system in operation in the school from next week on. Lost property was on display today and we will be bringing the terms lost property that is not claimed to the charity shop so that a good use can be made of.
Today in Assembly we talked about the importance of healthy eating . One child informed me that they had learned in science club that there are over 20 spoonfuls of sugar in on can of fizzy drinks. I would really appreciate if there were no sugary drinks in school and that if parents refrained from sending in treats on birthdays as it can take away valuable teaching time and it also puts pressure on other parents to do the same.
We are currently taking enrolments for Ireland class which will be our special class for children with Autistic spectrum disorder. Ireland class will open this September. You can get more information from the office.
I would like to wish you all a pleasant few days off and see you all again next thursday,
Beir Búa,
Eddie
