The first term of our new school year has been a busy one for the PTA.
The school book club returned in September, and is going well. We know it will be a great help to those families enrolled in it, when the dreaded new schoolbook list comes out next June. It isn’t too late to sign up. Speak to a member of the PTA or your child’s class rep for more information.
Coffee mornings for our junior classes were well attended and it was very nice to meet the new families to join our school community. To speak with them about school life from a parents view. The coffee mornings we had for the older classes were poorly attended. It was a pity. Although we know each other well, since the school first opened, it is still nice to sit and chat about our children, the school, and life around us. The PTA will continue to hold a general coffee morning for all parents in the school. It will be the first Wednesday of each month, alongside the book club collection. We hope that more parents can attend.
Our annual book day coin collection was great fun as it always is. The children were very excited to see their friends and teachers dressed up as their favourite book characters. The PTA got involved dressing up too. Some of the PTA parents got the honour of visiting different classes to read them one of their favourite stories. We are looking forward to next years book day already.
School Calendars for 2013 went on sale two weeks ago. They will continue to be on sale while stocks last. Don’t miss out on this memorable school offer. This year’s calendar is double sided to allow space to fit all class photos. It has the school holidays and contact details on it. The children love to have this keepsake for family members to see their school friends & teachers. The calendars are €6:50 each or 2 calendars for €12.
The PTA’s biggest event this school term was the Winter Fayre. There were carnival games, craft stalls, bouncy castle, face painting, disco room, pta café (soup & sandwiches) candy stop, amazing prize raffle, and Santa made a visit to some of the children too. Fun was had by all that attended. Young and old(er). It made all the effort the PTA put into making the fayre work, worthwhile.
The PTA would like to thank those families that were involved in helping with these events. We would also like to ask those parents who weren’t able to help out this term to not be shy about getting involved with volunteering in the coming school terms 🙂
This first school term the PTA have raised, through the book day coin collection, the school calendars (so far) and the winter fayre, (after costs) ……. €2,118,69. This money will be used for our children’s benefit. We as a community of parents are very blessed to be in a situation to play an important role in our children’s school life. The PTA wish each and every family in the school a happy holidays and a very happy new year 🙂
