Books and materials for next year can be purchased directly from the school. This cost covers books, book rental, copy books, art materials and photocopying. The school must also pay an annual subscription to Educate Together which is 12€ per child.
There is a book rental scheme in operation in the school which has brought down the cost of books significantly for the higher classes and the charge for this scheme is also included in the bill. We have also taken the decision to include the cost of the school tour in this payment as this can be an added burden to parents at a time of year which can prove expensive.
The cost of each class is as follows:
Junior infants 130.00€ (less 70€ deposit)
Senior Infants 125.00€
1st class 130.00€
2nd class 130.00€
3rd class 130.00€
4th class 130.00€
5th class 130.00€
6th class 130.00€
If there are more than two children in each family, the third and subsequent children do not have to pay the €70 contribution and only for the books. (ie. 60€) Due to the increasing amount of pupils now in the school and the large volume of payments coming into the office throughout the months of May and June, schoolbooks will be on sale at 8.30-9.30am and 2.00pm-2.30pm on the following dates:
September 2013 – Senior Infants Thursday 6th June
September 2013 – 1st & 2nd class Friday 7th June
September 2013 – 3rd & 4th class Monday 10th June
September 2013 – 5th & 6th class Tuesday 11th June
PAYMENTS WILL ONLY BE TAKEN ON THESE DATES AND NOT BEFORE. Please note that any parent in receipt of social welfare payments may be entitled to the ‘back to school allowance’ payment. This allowance covers the cost of purchasing books, materials and clothing for school. To apply for this allowance, please contact the Community Welfare Officer at Lucan Health Centre, 1A Sarsfield Park, Lucan Village (016281395).
