10 Year Celebration
As Lucan East opened its doors for the first time in 2008, we will be celebrating the school’s 10th birthday this year. This is a big and very important year for the school and we have lots of fun things planned for the children as part of this celebration. We will be kicking off our celebrations with a performance for the pupils by the Garda Band next week.
In addition to this, we will be having a formal celebration on Tuesday 2nd October from 9.30 – 10.30 am. Due to the restrictions of space in the hall this will be an invite only event. We will be having a lottery for parent’s invites in each class next week. If your child’s name is drawn they will be bringing home one invitation. There may be a second round if people’s names who are picked cannot attend. There will be different performances from our pupils on the day, Eddie will be in attendance and we hope it will be enjoyed by all.
During the week of October 2nd we will hav e lots of fun activities for our students during school time which we are all looking forward to. What a year it will be!
Some Class News
All of our classes have been getting straight to work in their new classes. Ghana class were making homemade playdough as part of Science and Art this week and Ghana Class were busy learning some new games in PE.
We have also been thinking of the two 6th classes that graduated from Lucan East ETNS in June and are wishing them the best on their fresh start in their new Secondary Schools. The artwork they did at the end of 6th class is a lovely reminder of them all.
Other News
We will be focusing on punctuality this year and spoken to all of the children about it at assembly. We understand that there may be odd occasions where people may be late for school but if there are children who are late very often we will be contacting their parents.
Finally, I will be going on maternity leave at the end of November and Linda, our Deputy Principal, will be returning at the same time. Linda Maher will then be Acting Principal for the duration of my maternity leave. We will be delighted to have Linda back at that time.
