I cannot believe there is only one week left until our October mid-term break. School life is definitely different but school life is still brill!
At assembly today I was commending all of the pupils for their patience with and tolerance for the new school rules. They have been superstars and deserve great credit for how well they have adapted.
Here’s a little update as to what has been going on in Lucan East ETNS…
Health and Wellbeing Week
We had a very successful Health and Wellbeing Week this week in the Lucan East. We had outdoor Zumba, a poster competition, fruit and vegetable tasting and lots of other fun classroom activities. A big thank you to Sinead, Tracy and all of the staff for all they did to make it a fun and enjoyable week for our children. To see pictures and videos of all of these activities check out our twitter page https://twitter.com/lucaneastet
New Solar Panels, STEM and ICT Equipment
During the summer months we had solar panels installed on the roof of our PE hall. These solar panels were donated by Microsoft to the school as a result of our involvement in the Microsoft Schools Connect Project. We are thrilled about this as they will reduce our schools energy usage, carbon footprint and electricity bills.
Paula, our STEM coordinator, also purchased more lego robotics kits for the school. These are used to great effect when teaching coding to our students and are already being put to good use in the classroom.
Finally, Simon, our ICT coordinator has been busy researching and purchasing new ICT equipment for our school over the last few months. We had a new Wifi system installed throughout the school over the summer, we just purchased 16 new iPads for use mainly in the Junior classes (JI-2nd) and we had 2 new interactive touchscreen panels installed in our outreach classes. Over the past 3 years we have installed new interactive panels in 12 out of our 18 classes and hope to have new panels in every class in the school by the end of 2023.
Book Day – Friday 23rd Oct
Next Friday 23rd October, we will be celebrating our Annual Book Day. On this day children and staff members dress up as their favourite book character. The children will be reading their favourite books, playing games and celebrating on the last day of school before the mid-term break. We look forward to seeing all of the children who would like to dress up in their costumes!
Mid-term Break
The school will be closed for our mid-term break from Monday 26th to Friday 30th October inclusive.
