Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the break and are looking forward to 2019. This term in Lucan East we have lots of activities, classes and talks for parents.

English classes will start back at the end of January. This course is free , it is run by the Education Training Board (ETB) and it takes place in Lucan East ETNS every Tuesday morning. There are places available on this course so if you are a beginner or intermediate level and would like to join the class you can contact me and let me know. I will email information about the enrolment day in the coming weeks.

The ETB will also provide a Yoga class for adults here in Lucan East every Friday starting on the 25th January from 9-10:30. This is a free 8 week course and a great opportunity to keep those new years resolutions! We need at least 8 people to participate for the course to go ahead so please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in the class or if you would like more information. We can provide mats or you can bring your own. (This class is now full but if you would like to be put on the waiting list let me know)

Carambola, the company who provide our school lunches have offered to do a talk for parents all about food labelling. Rachel from Carambola visited 5th and 6th class last term and did a presentation for them all about sugar in foods, the children found it very informative and they learned a lot from it. Rachel will come back again to our school this time to meet parents and shed some light on the complicated and often confusing topic of food labelling. I have no set dates for this as yet but I will let everyone know as soon as possible.

CLOVER in class reading for Junior Infant parents will take place Tuesday 22nd & 29th of January and 5th February, it will take place in the Junior Infant classrooms from 9-9:30. Parents who participate will receive their free clover pack, containing two beautiful books that have been provided by SDCC libraries service.

There will be lots of in-class parental involvement  activities this term so a make sure you have your Garda vetting form returned if you have not done so already!
