At Lucan East we are proud to announce that we have been awarded with our first Green Flag. We have worked very hard in recent years to ensure we are being kind to the environment, reducing, reusing and recycling as much as possible. An inspector from An Taisce came out to see all of our hard work and she thought we had done a fantastic job and that we were now ready to fly a green flag outside our school. Three members of the Green School committe accompanied one of the teachers to the awards ceremony in Croke Park, Dublin in May where the collected the flag. They were also treated to a delicious lunch as a reward for all their hard-work. We could not have achieved our Green Flag without the brilliant work carried out by our students so we would like to say a huge thank you and well done to all the children for their input.
Next year we will begin our work towards achieving the second Green Flag which is the Green Flag for Energy.
Please check back tomorrow to see some pictures from our Awards day and for details about our flag-raising event which will take place before the summer holidays.
