Our Active Schools Week kicked off every morning 10 minutes before the bell where the children from the Active Schools Committee lead the children in a 10 minute workout.
Our active schools committee collected the votes from each class for which type of tournament the children would like to do and the winner was … football. The classes from 1st to 6th participated in a football tournament while the Junior and Senior Infants enjoyed yoga. The staff also got to do a session of yoga for their Croke Park hour this week.
Paula and Colm (5th Class Teachers and PE Committee) took the Junior and Senior Infants for 30 minute slots and did some of the Move Well Move Often activities with them.
!st/2nd Class were very lucky and had a Tug o’ War demonstration from Cathy O Toole of the Ireland Women’s Tug o’ War team while 1st to 6th competed in Tug o’ War tournaments.
On Wednesday the whole school came out to watch the staff v the 6th class students in their choice of handball. After a very close game the staff emerged successful. It was great fun for everybody.
All classes got to take part in 30 minutes of Hip Hop with Jill the local Hip Hop teacher.
A big well done to Fiji class who were the winners of the Go Noodle competition and won extra playtime for all their efforts. Well done to the winners of the Design a Jersey competition. They can practise their skipping techniques with their new ropes.
