WINTER GREETING CARDS
This year our Parent Teacher Association are organising our Winter Greeting Cards again. This is a school fundraiser where the children design/colour their own card and the parents/guardians can buy printed versions of the cards if they wish. The templates for these cards will be sent home in the coming weeks. Your child can design any kind of card they wish – Winter card, Thank You card, Eid card, Christmas card, Diwali card, Hannukah. This is a great fundraiser for the school which had lots of support from you all last year and we’re hoping for the same this year.
JUNIOR INFANT COFFEE MORNING
Next Tuesday 28th of September, Junior Infant parents/guardians are meeting at 9am for a coffee morning. This is an opportunity for Junior Infant parents/guardians to be welcomed to the school, to meet each other and to hear about some of the events the PTA organise throughout the year. The meeting will take place under our outdoor cover and will be attended by some PTA representatives, our HSCL teacher Sinéad and me. Tea and coffee and light refreshments will be available on the day.
If there is a Junior Infant parent/guardian who wants to attend please reply to sinead@lucaneastet.ie so we know how many people will be attending on the day. We are looking forward to this event.
SCHOOL GARDEN
Parents/guardians in the school are continuing to help with our school garden this year. They started this morning Friday 24th September 9-11 and are working on getting the garden winter ready. The group do some light weeding and planting spring bulbs.
The children really love the garden and it is a great teaching and learning resource. With the help of parents it can continue to be used by the children.
We need volunteers to help maintain it, if you have any spare time please come and lend a hand.
The gardening group plan to meet on the last Friday of every month from 9 – 11 am. All welcome.
APPLICATIONS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL
Applications for secondary school 2022, for our 6th class students application open 1st October. To complete these applications you need your child’s pps number, a bill as proof of address, your child’s birth cert and a completed application form. We advise that you apply for at least 2 schools as first choice is not guaranteed.
COMMUNION
We would like to congratulate all of the children in our school community who have made their communion over the last few weeks or who will make their communion in the coming weeks. Some of these children have waited a long time for this event and we hope that you thoroughly enjoy(ed) the celebration with all of your families and friends. We marked this occasion at assembly today and were delighted to hear what all of these children were doing to celebrate.
BOOK FAIR
The book fair is coming to Lucan East ETNS for one week starting on the 5th October. A percentage of the money spent at the book fair goes towards new books for our school and class libraries. There are books for all ages of children in the school and this event is really enjoyed by all of our students. We would greatly appreciate your support with this event also.
PRINCIPAL’S AWARD
We had some additions to our normal assembly this week. As well as our weekly Star of the Week and Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine we gave out our first ever Principal’s Awards. 3 children in the school were picked and presented a piece of excellent work that they did to the school. Lorraine’s class also did a presentation to the school all about Harvest as part of what they have been studying in Learn Together. This was extremely informative and everyone loved learning from our 2nd class superstars. A big WELL DONE to all involved!
