Lucan East ETNS Boys’ GAA team
Yesterday our 5th and 6th class boys GAA football team had a big win against Lucan ETNS in Lucan Sarsfields. This was our first match of this year’s Cumann na mBunscoil and the first match any Lucan East team has played in the last 3 years due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
We are so delighted for our boys to start off on such a good foot. They played really well as a team and enjoyed every minute which is more important than anything else.
Fingers crossed for more great games for our girls’ and boys’ teams in the coming months … watch this space!
Food Dudes & Hot Meals
Next week Lucan East ETNS will have 2 new food initiatives running. Our new hot meals lunch programme by Carambola will be starting on Monday. I was speaking to some classes yesterday and they are really looking forward to it. We hope it goes well for everyone.
We will also be participating in a one week Food Dudes programme. Food Dudes was due to start in the school at the very start of school closures in March 2020. As a result of missing out on the 2020 programme they have included us in a one week catch up. Our children will be tasting different fruits and vegetables every day from Monday to Friday next week. This is a great way for children to try things that they usually may not eat at home as they can be more adventurous with food when they are with their peers. It’s a great opportunity for all.
Cricket in Lucan East
Monday will be a busy day here in the school as all of our classes from 3rd to 6th will also be taking part in Cricket lessons. These lessons will run every Monday for the next 3 weeks and our senior class pupils cannot wait!
I would like to thank Cricket Leinster and in particular their development manager Naomi Scott-Hayward for giving our school and our students this opportunity. If we get enough players interested after participating in this training we hope to enter a team into the upcoming South Dublin County Council Primary Schools’ Cricket Competition. Fingers crossed.
That’s all from me for now. Wishing you a lovely relaxing weekend and looking forward to seeing everyone again on Monday.
Is mise le meas,
Grainne
