Active Week & Sports Day
What a fantastic week we had for Active Week. The children enjoyed many activities including gymnastics, basketball, soccer, tag rugby, GAA, rounders, yard games and hurling. The week culminated with our annual Sports Day, which proved hugely popular again this year. Relays, parachute, water races, penalties, long jump and tug-of-war were all visible in the yard on the day and thankfully we had the beautiful weather to add to the enjoyment. A big thanks to Niamh and the other teachers who helped out during the week.
GAA Match
Well done to the girls GAA team for all the effort that they put in this year. They finished the year off with a great win against St. John the Evangelist N.S. on Tuesday. A big thanks to their coaches Paula and Kate.
Heritage in Schools
We had another visit from a Heritage in Schools expert this week as part of our Geography curriculum. Dale Treadwell enthralled the children with stories and biodiversity facts. The children had a closer look at some of the insects around the school grounds.
Swimming
Well done to Jamaica and India classes who completed their final swimming lesson of the term. By all accounts they have been making great progress in the water.
Next Week
As we approach the final week of the term we are looking forward to the graduation ceremony for our current 6th classes. It is always a very special occasion. A big thanks goes to both the children themselves and their teachers, as they have put a lot of work into the preparation for it. The children will enjoy their graduation breakfast, thanks to the wonderful help of the PTA, on Wednesday morning.
Computational Thinking Obstacle Course
Facilitators from the National University of Ireland in Maynooth will be coming to the school on Monday to host a ‘Computational Thinking Obstacle Course’ for the children in 3rd and 4th class. The children are relishing the challenge ahead.
