Science Competition
Following on from the success of Science Week, the school’s STEM committee organised a fun Science competition. Some children have been working on their projects at home and are using paper, card and slides presentations to put them together. Just a reminder that we are encouraging the children to do it under the following headings: Hypothesis: I think that …, materials, procedure, results and conclusion. For those people who are engaging with the experiments and competition, please feel free to ask your class teacher, should you have any questions, and try to get your entries in by Friday, December 9th. Enjoy!

Voluntary Contributions

GAA
Our GAA teams have been busy again this week and are braving the colder conditions with the same vigour that they displayed early in the season. It is wonderful to see how far some of our players have come since training and matches began. All girls and boys who are enjoying the GAA should consider joining their local club as their teachers and coaches can really see the potential in our players.
The girls finished up for the winter with a great win in their match at Lucan Sarsfields during the week. Well done girls!
3rd and 4th class boys played a blitz during the week, which they really enjoyed. Emphasis was very much on participation and a silent sideline was observed. The scores weren’t recorded with the focus being on the basic skills, positions and kick passing. The lads played their hearts out and won at least 3 matches out of the 6 played. Well done boys!
A big thanks to the teachers involved in training and mentoring all of our players.
Ciao from Cuba Class
Cuba class have been learning all about Italy recently. The boys and girls created wonderful artwork that transported them to Venice. Check out their gondolas below. They also presented some fantastic projects on Italy which demonstrated their wonderful knowledge of all things Italian along with their digital skills. Well done Cuba class!
Peace Proms
On Tuesday, 6th December our Peace Proms Choir will attend a rehearsal with Peace Proms Conductor, Greg Beardsell at the National Sports Arena. The group expect to be back at the school by 2.30pm. Thanks to Carol and the wonderful singing group for all of their work on this.
Hot Lunches
We are trying to reduce the amount of waste that we produce in the school each week. If your child brings in their own lunch and/or is not eating the hot lunches, please cancel their hot lunch.
Child Safeguarding and Anti-Bullying Review
Boards of Management of schools with Educate Together patronage are now requested to submit their completed annual review of child safeguarding and anti-bullying checklists to the National Office. The Board of Management of Lucan East recently conducted these reviews. The notifications pertaining to these reviews are available to view on the school website at the links above.
