Cycling
Cycling is continuing with our two fifth classes at the moment. The course starts with theory in the classroom followed by the practical lessons in the yard. These are really engaging lessons for the children and the instructors use simulated road experiences in the yard to teach all of the children about the importance of road and cycling safety. This includes simulated roundabouts, T-junctions, Stop signs and yielding to oncoming traffic. All of this training culminates in a supervised cycling trip outside of the school grounds, which happened this week. Well done to everyone who is making fantastic progress in this area.
FAI Coaching & Matches
Over the next number of weeks we will have a trainee FAI football coach visit the school. He will be working with the children to develop their soccer skills. All of this is quite timely as many of our girls and boys are participating in FAI Schools soccer matches recently. We have junior and senior teams that have been travelling around Dublin this week to play matches in some tough conditions. We have a number of wins under our belts and we’re already looking forward to the next round of matches. Thanks also to all of the teachers involved in organising the matches, transport and looking after the kits for the teams.
Heritage in Schools – Dale Treadwell
We recently had Dale Treadwell visit the school. Dale loves everything to do with nature. You can read more about him here. Dale had STEM challenges for some of the older children, stories and he even brought a dinosaur to the school. His enthusiasm for bugs, plants and trees really captured the imaginations of the children. We were even able to show him our new wormery, which he was very impressed with.

Thosaigh Seachtain na Gaeilge i Scoil Leamhcán Thoir inné. Tá a lán rudaí sa phlean don tseachtain. Chuireamar fáilte roimh Ghaelscoil Eiscir Riada inniu.
